This dry tea tray is made using traditional lacquerware techniques, not mass production shortcuts.

The core is solid wood, shaped first, then wrapped by hand with paper layers. After that, multiple coats of natural lacquer are applied and polished repeatedly. The central surface is finished with a silver-powder rubbed lacquer, giving it a soft metallic glow that changes with light, while the surrounding area is finished in deep purple lacquer for contrast.

Lacquer work is slow and demanding. Temperature and humidity must be carefully controlled at every stage—too dry and the lacquer won’t cure, too humid and the surface bubbles. Each tray takes over a month to complete, entirely by hand.
