The Rong Tian Yixing Teapot represents an innovation in the realm of Chinese teapots. Crafted by the esteemed Chinese arts and crafts master Lv Yaochen, this teapot is inspired by the figure of the Laughing Buddha from Buddhism, symbolizing the ability to embrace the world with a large belly.
The Rong Tian teapot is an evolution of the traditional ‘Duo Zhi’ pot, conceptualized by Lv Yaochen. Its name, inspired by the ‘Laughing Buddha’ or ‘Big Belly Maitreya,’ reflects the pot’s capacity to ’embrace all matters of the world’.
The design of Rong Tian teapots has evolved over time, from lower to taller structures, reflecting Lv Yaochen’s deep understanding of the craft.
The teapot is characterized by its full-bodied shape with a slightly lower neck, and a raised, semi-spherical lid that adds a touch of simplicity and playfulness. The teapot’s design integrates various classic elements, such as its flat, round shape and unique details like the straight spout with a slightly upward tilt, and a handle that mirrors an ‘inverted ear’, combining aesthetics with practicality.
It’s a blend of various classic styles like Duo Qiu, Pan Hu, and Lian Zi, encapsulating the essence of traditional teapot design while adding its unique character.
Rong Tian teapots are versatile and particularly well-suited for brewing various types of tea. They are especially ideal for teas that require steeping, like Pu’er and Oolong. The larger capacity of the Rong Tian teapot allows for a full extraction of flavors and aromas, making the tea experience more enjoyable and complete.
